But did you know that sex may 'lower blood pressure'.  According to some scientific studies, which health direct examined, there are multiple health benefits from having sex. Let me perform a quick summary on the benefits of sex, because sex is cool.

Sex is good for your Heart

Health direct, put forward that "exercise is good for your heart, including sex". The health benefits comes from exercising the heart. 'Sexual arousal raises the heart beat. At orgasm, the heart rate peaks.' This is significant because it comparable to walking up a flight of stairs as the analogy used in the article. Sex is certainly more fun than walking up a flight of stairs. Sex, however is not a substitute for aerobic activity.

Sex can alleviate stress

Health direct, posits that sex may help people to deal with stress.

In a study with a small sample size, referred by health direct, the participants had to undergo through stress tests, such as public speaking, doing mental arithmetic out-aloud.The participants kept a diary of their sexual activities.

It was found that the people who had no sex had the highest stress levels (as shown by an increase in blood pressure). People who only had penetrative sex had the smallest rise in blood pressure.

Sex, according to the study may help in dealing with stress.

Weekly sex may help fend off illness

Health direct, put forward the idea that 'there may a correlation between how often you have sex and the strength of your immune system'.

A study in US, found that students who had sex once or twice a week had higher levels of an important illness-fighting substance called immunoglobulin A (IgA) than those who had no sex.

This is significant because it reshapes the way we think about sex because sex may not be just fun, pleasurable but integral  to healthy practices.

People who have sex feel healthier

A study of 3,000 Americans aged 57 to 85 years showed that those who were having sex rated their general health higher than those who weren't.
